The American India Foundation (AIF) was set up under the leadership of President Clinton with the mission to accelerate social and economic change in India. It works in 3 sectors – education, livelihoods and public health – both by supporting NGOs and by implementing its own programmes.
AIF has a strong and growing grants programme in education working within the UEE framework, where it supports NGOs working directly with left-out groups, communities and children to improve access to education and learning levels in both urban and rural India. Its work in seasonal migration is getting increasingly recognized.
To manage its growing portfolio, AIF is looking to strengthen its grants management team. This team is responsible for developing and consolidating AIF’s strategic framework, managing current grants, developing new grants, influencing public policy and practice, organizing workshops and other events and communicating with AIF’s US board and donors.
AIF is looking for a senior programme person with 10 -12 years’ experience in grants management in the elementary education space. Responsibilities would include strategy formulation, strengthening grant management systems and processes, working very closely with partner NGOs in meeting grant objectives and with policy makers on advocacy issues. Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi are essential. The position will be based in Delhi and will report to the Director – Education Grants. Compensation will be in line with the best in the sector.
