Anand run - A Vagabond Intiative

Objectives of the Anand run

Vagabond, the IRMA students’ Adventure Club at the Institute of Rural Management, Anand, organized a run in the city of Anand on January 26, 2006. The distance to be covered is 11 kilometres. The run was sponsored by the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd.

The objective behind the run was to get the citizens of Anand on a common platform and then use this network to tackle various social issues in the city, such as environmental degradation, education, liquor addiction, begging, etc. Also, since the Run was being held on January 26, it could kindle the spirit of patriotism and belongingness in the citizens of Anand.

We are all aware of the fact that all bonding happens on the playground or in the outdoors. Keeping this in mind, we decided that we must organize a sport event in which as many Anandites could participate. Of course, a run around the city fits this best. The old and the youth shall run hand in hand. The entire city could come together as one large family.

Besides the run, we also organized a blood donation camp. This would enhance the self-worthiness of the donors and also instill a feeling of love, affection, camaraderie for each other. It also carry a symbolic meaning of unity in the local community.
